Solveig Corbin: Svaroopa®
Seventeen years ago, Solveig Corbin opened Nokomis Yoga, a sanctuary dedicated to bringing the transformative power of yoga to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Her journey began with a major setback. One morning, Solveig woke up and realized she could no longer feel her hands. She spent a decade searching for answers, visiting neurologists, physical therapists and alternative medicine practitioners, but nothing worked.
Feeling helpless, she finally tried yoga. She didn’t expect a miracle but everything changed when she discovered Svaroopa® Yoga, a style focused on spinal release through props and longer poses.
Slowly, she began to heal. Solveig realized her past treatments failed because she was totally disconnected from her physical body. By slowing down and moving inward, she finally found relief from the chronic back, neck, and muscle tension that caused her numbness.
The experience was life-changing, inspiring her to open Nokomis Yoga. Today, Solveig teaches Svaroopa® Yoga both in-person and on Zoom, alongside private Yoga Therapy sessions. For her, yoga isn’t exercise. It is a tool to empower people, heal the body, and discover your true nature.
